So what is this ‘gospel’ I keep hearing about?

The short answer is ‘gospel’ means ‘good news’. We hear and read all sorts of misuses of the term but simply put, in its truest form ‘gospel’ means the following:

1.Even though God created man to have a perfect relationship with him, from the very beginning man chose his own way rather than obeying God. Genesis 3:1-7.  Ever since, every person has this inherited sin nature. Did you ever have to teach your children to disobey? Romans 3:23

2. Because of his sin, man is condemned to spiritual death, ie. hell,separation from God, etc. John 3:17,18

3. GOOD NEWS! God provided a way of escape!
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”John 3:16
Jesus(God) paid our sin penalty by dying on the cross instead of us dying(spiritually). Jesus was crucified and shed his blood for us so that we can live in union with God, forever!
